Today, we are thrilled to share our latest album, Death To All Kings, with all of you.

We’ve been working on this album in some form for the past four years. Between a long writing process, learning the songs with a new band line-up, and being in the idle of recording when a pandemic started, it took a lot of time and effort to get here. Oh, not to mention the fact that the world was slowly falling apart throughout. That’s actually a key part of what the album tackles for us. Death To All Kings looks at the weird intersection of one’s personal mental health and the wider forces at play in the world. How can you possibly take care of yourself when everyone is hurting? What’s the balance? It’s an album about finding room for self-care within a merciless cyclone of cruelty.

As always, we’ve made it available for free on all streaming platforms. You like Spotify? Apple Music? Napster? Boom, they’re all there for you to listen to at your convenience.

For those looking to support us by buying the album, head on over to our Bandcamp page. When you purchase the album there, you’ll get a digital booklet filled with lots of goodies, including original art by David Flamm. We’ve also written a bit of a foreword about the record. So if you’re curious about learning more about the songs, you can pick up the album there.

It feels crazy to funnel four years of work into a quick blog post, but hopefully the music speaks for itself. As always, we can’t thank you enough for your continued support. We really hope this album gives you some sort of positive experience, whether it’s 40 minutes of fun distraction or a moment of personal clarity.

There’s no better sign off here than the album title itself, so we’ll leave you with four words: death to all kings.

New EP "Cities from Above" Available Today!

You didn’t think we were defunct, did you? Well, surprise! Our latest EP, Cities from Above, is out TODAY. What a twist!

A little background here: last Spring, our dear guitar friend Andy Hanold told us he would be moving in a few months. So, we all came together and decided that we wanted to do one more recording together. So, we learned these 5 songs as quickly as possible and brought them to Ian Kaye at Jam Eater Studios. Ian took these half-finished songs are expanded them out into what you hear today. We were also blessed to have the wonderful Jo Kroger and Emily Einhorn in the studio to add some backing vocals on a few songs.

We are so proud of this EP, and we hope you enjoy it. It has been a total honor playing music with Andy over the last few years (and beyond). We hope that these songs serve as a worthy send-off to that sandy-haired twang master. If you see him wandering the streets of America, tell him “That’ll do pig, that’ll do.”

We have been on a hiatus from playing live shows while working on this, but we’re hoping to restructure the band this summer now that this 5-song child is out in the world. New songs are being written as we speak. We’ll have more news for you soon enough. In the meantime, head over to our Bandcamp page and give Cities from Above a spin (free to stream, and you can buy it for $5 if you’d like). And if you enjoy it, send it to all your friends and say “Hey, this is a thing you can listen to.” When they say “But I’m listening to Kendrick” be like “Okay, fair” and then send it to them again when they’re not listening to Kendrick.

Love, kisses, and cities.

Album Update!

Hey everyone! As you may have noticed, we've been pretty quiet recently. But that doesn't mean we're dead. In fact, far from it! We can't be killed! It's a curse! Help!

While we've been wandering the Earth endlessly, we've been hard at work mixing our new album. First of all, huge shout out to Catherine Anderson who has been working on it tirelessly since the Spring. She's been absolutely killing it in the mixing cell (is that where you mix things?). We're ridiculously excited about how the album is sounding, and you have no idea how hyped we are to share it with you all.

WHEN are we going to share it though? That's a good question! We've been taking our time trying to get this done right, which has really paid off. It will be out next year, for sure, though we're not quite sure how early yet. We'll keep you all updated, but it shouldn't be too long a wait before the old promotion wagon boots up. We swear on our un-end-able lives that it'll be worth it.

You may have noticed that we've been quiet on the show front as well, which has also been due to all of our energy going into finishing this thing. We'll return to the stage next year and we'll be older than ever. We promise that the next time you see us play, it will be the oldest you have ever seen us on stage.

Details on everything coming soon. But in the meantime, we wish a happy holiday to everyone out there. We love you all deeply, and we're glad you're all hanging out on Earth.

Crushing Autumn

All of these flowers are 'bout to die.

All of these flowers are 'bout to die.

It's been a ludicrously busy year for us. And now, as we dive into the perfection that is Autumn, we're about to close out the year in equally busy fashion. Because, if nothing else, Duckspeak is all about style. Gaze upon our khakis and weep.

As you may or may not know, we've been straight-up toiling away at our new album. Everything has been recorded, and now it's in the mystical mixing phase. For those of you who don't know, 'mixing' is when you turn a lot of knobs until the noise pile sounds like music, I assume, who really knows for sure. We're not 100% sure on when the album will make it from hard drive to your ears, but we're hoping to get it to y'all as soon as possible, so hang tight! To fill the gap, I'll be trying to update this old thing a bit more frequently with Good Content. I'm hoping to give a little insight into the creative process, as this set of songs are particularly important to me.

"But where can we hear these songs," you are no doubt fruitlessly asking your computer right now. That's a good question, even if it is misdirected. We'll be playing a few shows this Fall as we put the finishing touches on everything. We've been previewing the material a lot over the year, and hearing people's responses to it has been awesome. So thank you all for helping us by coming out, listening, bopping around, buying shirts, etc. Really, thank you.

Our next show is SEPT. 22nd at SIDEWALK CAFE. We're playing with The Old Adage, who are a very cool band from Detroit.

See? PRETTY COOL. Come hang.
